The Use Of Oudh In Modern Perfumery

When utilized in a fragrance composition, Oud is customarily a base note, which has a tendency to stay at the pores and skin long after other similar ingredients dissipate. Since they shape the fragrance’s foundation, base notes are very rich, heavy and long-lasting (up to 6 hours and more). While maximum woody notes are recognized for their earthy qualities, Oud affords a pleasing sweet and heady aroma and is regularly featured in a synthetic version due to the fact it’s so expensive to harvest.

About us and the fragrance industry.

Most consumers are shocked to learn that the CPG’s that produce their favorite personal care products purchase fragrance oils from a third party. They do this because they do not own the fragrance formulas and they also do not manufacture the fragrance oils used in their products. The large fragrance houses own all rights to the fragrances, consider them trade secrets, and keep the CPG or brand manufacturer in the dark through their use of Captives. Captives are proprietary formulations typically created to replace an ingredient. Captives typically are composed of hundreds of chemicals making it almost impossible to deformulate. It’s not the CPG’s fault that they don’t know what’s in the fragrances used in their products, so they can’t list all ingredients on the label. Let me repeat that, your favorite soap or personal care product is likely manufactured by a company that does not own the fragrance used to scent it. If the fragrance company quits selling their fragrance oil to the CPG, they could no longer sell the product, without finding another fragrance house to try and duplicate.
